Popular budget juice vendors are usually known for doing simple flavors, and often they do them exceptionally well. I expected another simple tasty mix with HB Oats after seeing it recommended time and time again. I finally purchased a bottle for myself. When I received the bottle, I tried it right away and was slightly disappointed, I tasted mostly maple. I did not feel it lived up to the hype. I decided to let it sit for a while and come back to it.
When you open the bottle you smell a pleasant morning sweetness, like sugar and honey. After steeping this juice I am definitely impressed. You can taste a nearly perfect mix of oats, brown sugar, maple and honey. It tastes like a fresh baked soft oatmeal cookie with hints of brown sugar. It's sweet but not too much. This is categorized as an oatmeal type flavor, which typically signifies breakfast, but this crosses categories to be a bakery flavor as well. It's full of flavor, but not a heavy flavor. This is easily an ADV.
Considering the price of this juice, especially on Tuesdays, it is far better than it has any business being. This is not a simple flavor, it tastes layered, flavorful and complex, and is one of the few budget juices I have tried that can definitely hold it's own against more expensive flavors.
As an added bonus, because there is no fruit, I have found adding any fruit/bakery flavors, like apple pie, or blueberries and cream or banana cream adds another dimension here. I have had fun playing with it. Don't be afraid to give it a try alone or to add other flavors.
