D'ananas is a combination of pineapple and caramel with a light cakey undertone. It's been a while since I've had a pineapple upside down cake, but I'd say this is a pretty good interpretation. It really tastes like the sugars in the pineapple have been caramelized and it's a great flavor. I get a bit of a creamy vanilla cake flavor in the background, but the caramelized pineapple is definitely the standout. The inhale is sweet and juicy pineapple backed with caramel. It's fairly rich with an almost syrupy sweetness. It tastes like a very ripe pineapple that has been caramelized. The exhale begins with a less caramelized pineapple mixed with a vanilla cake. The pineapple is sweet and fruity and the cake is light and somewhat creamy. The pineapple is the dominant flavor of the two. The caramel picks back up midway combining with the pineapple and cake. There is a nice mix of all the flavors that carry the exhale out, with a smooth vanilla caramel at the tip of my tongue. I'm left with the taste of caramelized pineapple in the back of my throat and a light cake on my tongue.
Overall, D'ananas is a nicely done juice. The different layers work very well together, making for a fairly complex flavor. It truly captures the flavors of an upside down cake rather well. The pineapple was quite dominant fresh, but after steeping for a while the vanilla cake started coming through more. It's a bit on the richly sweet side and I don't see myself vaping this all day. But that said, I do still really enjoy D'ananas. Vapor in a Bottle did a great job on this new addition to their lineup.
