Like the other reviewers, I'm a big fan of carrot cake. So, naturally, I have been awaiting the arrival of Carrot Cake for the last couple weeks and it finally became available on Bird's online shop last week. As soon as I saw that it had became available, I was excited to try it and placed my order shortly afterward. When I received the package in the mail, I gave it a quick vape in the RDA and it was delicious off the bat. There doesn't seem to be much need for a lengthy steep as all the elements are there and very well balanced. Now that it's been a couple days, I finally have time to sit down for a review.
Carrot Cake's inhale is all, as the name implies, carrot cake with a sweet vanilla icing and cream cheese. The carrot cake has a moist texture and a unique combination of earthy and sweet. I'm also getting a light nuttiness--perhaps an almond or pecan (or both)--and a mixture of spices. The presence of a light dusting of cinnamon is most felt at the end of the exhale and all the way through the exhale. On the exhale the carrot cake remains the more dominant flavor, while the icing and cream cheese settle down a touch. The vanilla icing and cream cheese end up complimenting the combination of the earthy, nutty, and spiced flavor of the cake by kicking up the sweetness and giving the vape a moderate creamy taste and texture. Carrot Cake ended up being exactly what I hoped it would be: a complex mixture of flavors that accurately pulls off a dense moist carrot cake with a deliciously sweet frosting.
As one review said, Carrot Cake performs well at high and low temps. You do lose some of the creaminess and sweetness of the vanilla and cream cheese at higher temps. But the spice and cake intensifies at those higher temps, so there's a trade off. I find that I prefer Carrot Cake in the 450-465F range as within that range I end up with a nice balance of nuttiness and spice from the cake while maintaining the sweetness and creaminess from the vanilla and cream cheese. Overall, Carrot Cake is a fantastic flavor, one of my favorites. I wish I had ordered a larger bottle and will definitely be ordering more in the future.
