Great idea for a flavor if you ask me, unique and sounds delicious.
The smell from the bottle is mostly apple, which to be honest, I'm not real big into apple flavored vapes. Still, I think AECo makes some good flavors so I went into this with an open mind.
My first thoughts after I filled the tank was that this was intensely fruity. In my head I figured the focus would be much more on the funnel cake side of things just by reading the description. Instead I was tasting a very bright apple, actually more like apple juice. It was surprisingly realistic. The apple juice flavor quickly melds in to some cider-like spices, a dash of cinnamon, maybe a hint of clove - again, a nice and realistic cider flavor. I've tried some cider flavors and none of them really impressed me - this one is pretty damned good. I wasn't getting a lot of the dough / cake however.
But then that all changed. After a few pulls and the tank wasn't super full, this juice really balanced out. The apple cider flavor was nowhere near as bright / intense, and out came the whipped cream and sugary dough on the exhale. It's a wonderful blend of flavors, and another juice that's flirting between being a fruit or dessert. The cinnamon and clove parts are like what you'd expect from drinking apple cider - you can tell there are some spiced notes there but it's subtle and blends in like it is supposed to. Even if you don't like cinnamon / clove I don't think you'd mind it here, they are very small elements in the overall scheme. The whipped cream is delicious and while the dough is not as thick and cakey as I would have guessed, it's there and compliments the whipped cream perfectly. It's definitely got that sugary kick to it, but in my opinion it's not too much and really tastes good with the apple cider.
This isn't your typical apple pie flavor that's been done ad nauseum. The apple here isn't that baked / glazed apple from like an apple pie, it's literally apple cider. Somehow this all works really well together. For someone who doesn't typically care for apple flavored vapes, I'm almost all the way through this bottle.
I still find that when you fill the tank, the apple flavor is a bit overpowering. Not in necessarily a bad way, but it does drown out the cake and cream. Once you take a few pulls it all comes together and it's a treat. A very smooth vape and the cloud production is wonderful. The overall intensity here is about a 7 with a full tank, and about a 5 once you get into it a bit. It's not mellow but not super intense either - very well balanced all around.
The flavor that lingers on your tongue is so pleasant, I'm impressed with this and I can tell a lot of work went into perfecting it - certainly one of the better flavors in AECo's lineup. I'll be curious to see how this changes with a longer steep time, and will update my review if it does (or if I can keep it that long). For a seasonal flavor I would have guessed this would be more a fall flavor, but it does have this brightness and uniqueness to it that made me question that.
Good stuff, I think people are going to really enjoy this one.
Review Disclaimer - Randy from Apothecary sent this to me just because he was excited about it, it was a 30ml bottle without even a label on it. He wanted to get my thoughts on it but instead I'm going to review it. As always, I am going to be honest with my review and he knows (and to his credit, appreciates) this.
