Note this is not the milkshake version. Just basic Sea Salt Caramel. I first noticed the smell has an alcohol like twinge to it. It occasionally and very lightly makes an appearance in the flavor.
The caramel is very nice and mellow. Almost more milky than heavy with caramel richness. The taste is similar to caramel but you miss out on a bit of the richness and depth. I would put it closer to caramel syrup. The salt part is kind of lacking. The joy of salt and caramel is the mix of rich sweetness that is contrasted when one of those salt crystals hits your tongue. I get a slight flat contrast of flavor but without knowing I wouldn’t be able to peg it as salt. I get that the sea salt caramel experience is one of those things that likely cannot transcend physical food due to the elements involved. This is close but feels closer to a syrup or flavoring that would be added to a drink than the real thing. It’s a decent flavor overall and enjoyable. Just not 100% of the sea salt caramel experience.
