Super stoked to see some new flavors coming from Bird. I feel that overall as a mixer he has really improved, and was hoping the infamous Carrot Cake wouldn't be his last.
Peach Mochi is a great blend, certainly unique and a wonderful addition to the Bird lineup. I've never eaten peach mochi, but have seen mochi at the store and it's certainly on my list of something to try one of these days.
I instantly enjoyed this one on first sample, but have been vaping it now for a few days to really get familiar with it for the review. Outside of the uniqueness of the flavor profile, I find Peach Mochi to be one of those subtle and more mature blends that I can really appreciate.
For starters, the peach. Peach can be overwhelming with it's sweetness (and in most cases - throat hit), but it's really done well here and no throat hit to speak of. While I'd say overall it is the predominant flavor, it's dialed back enough to let the other flavors balance it out. It's not overly sweet that you can't vape on this a long while. It is nice and natural tasting, but I find it bordering more on a peach nectar. Not candied, not jam - but more of a sweet peach nectar. It's very good. On a dripper it's more pronounced on a full tank, but after a few hits it recedes slightly and allows more of the cream to come through.
I don't get an absolutely exact ice-cream flavor here, but this is definitely more than just a standard peaches and cream. That being said, the cream here is so good, whatever it is. If there is vanilla in here it's very slight. But the cream gives this a wonderful base and blends in with the peach expertly. It's smooth and satisfying.
The weakest element to me is the dough, but since mochi is just wrapped in a light layer - to me that makes sense. It also might be the addition of the dough that melds with the cream that makes the ice-cream part taste how it does. As mentioned, it's very good. There's also a slight sugary sweetness to this too, in a good way - it's not added sweetener or just a hit of sugar, but almost like a light dusting of powdered sugar.
The overall intensity I'd say is a 5 out of 10, not as intense as Blue Pixie or some of the others from the Bird lineup, but certainly not weak in the flavor department. I really enjoy the level where it's at.
As you can expect from Bird - the mouth feel here and the body of the vape is just outstanding. There's also just a slight tingling on the tongue after the exhale that brings more to the overall experience. The vapor production is top notch as well as the overall quality.
It all works very well together and if you enjoy peach flavors you certainly can't go wrong here. For me personally I was hoping for just a bit more realism with the ice cream component, but that is nitpicking. If you are expecting a more prominent dough flavor here you also might be disappointed, but if you go into this with an open mind and take it for what it is - it's a very unique and well done flavor. I'm not sure if it's different enough to convert people who don't care for peach, but I'd say it's for sure possible.
Overall it's refreshing and blends the lines between fruity and dessert profiles in a unique way.
